A little of this, a little of that

We believe in the benefits of a balanced practice

Each of the Block's signature classes is based on one of these core practice methods: Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative, and Pilates.

1. Hatha Yoga is an overarching term that refers to any yoga practice that uses physical postures and breathing exercises. It is the foundational system from which many contemporary yoga styles have evolved.

2. Vinyasa Yoga is a dynamic, fluid style of yoga characterized by linking movement directly with the breath to build heat, strength, and cardiovascular endurance.

Just as our studio offers both heated and non-heated rooms, our class styles reflect a harmony of these four methods—so you can always find something that fits your needs.

3. Restorative Yoga is a gentle, slow-paced style of yoga that focuses on deep relaxation, stress reduction, and rejuvenation.

4. Pilates is a low-impact, mind-body exercise system characterized by precise, controlled movements that target the ‘powerhouse’ and help build muscular strength and stability.

Class Styles at the Block

A note from the founders

There are so many styles and adaptations of yoga; at the Block, we aim to share those that feel authentic to us. That's why we practice or teach everything we offer. We believe that each of these four methods complements the others; when approached in a balanced way, students may experience an expanded physical and emotional range.
